Bathing in the Sun

Blue skies, golden rays, oversized sunglasses and a horizon of endless blue? Yeah, we know you can’t wait either. As the weather finally starts to warm up, it’s time to snap out of our wintry hibernation mood of late and get ready for those sunny care-free days that are just around the corner. Perhaps you’ve been earnestly working hard on getting that bikini body, have graciously been blessed with one, or are just comfortable in your own skin—no matter what, we know everyone looks forward to one thing: flaunting that new swimsuit! With bold hues, exotic prints, stripes and of course, sparkle, this spring brings us the best of the best in all things swim. Although choosing a bathing suit that’s right for you might not be something we always think about, we here at BLVD are ready to get you looking flawless with some helpful tips suggested by Marie Claire on how to knock them out of the water and look your best yet!

For petite body shapes:
· Tiny prints work best, as oversized patterns and big straps might swallow up your delicate figure.
· If you wish to elongate your upper torso, a plunging neck line or halter style top may do the trick.
· For longer looking legs, consider trying out bottoms with a higher cut that can instantly give the appearance of legs that go on for miles.
· And if you’re a little self-conscious with your upper half, a touch of padding in your bikini top can give you an instant lift. Underwire support and higher Lycra content can minimize it.

For curvy body shapes:
· If you’re pear –shaped, go for eye-catching printed tops and solid-colored bottoms
· If you’re conscious about a flabby tummy, add some vertical lines with stripes and seams that provide a lengthened torso.
· Choose bottoms in darker colors and high waistbands.
· Avoid wearing anything that digs into your stomach or contains belts, bows or ties that can bring focus to undesired areas

For Rectangular Body Shapes:
· These body shapes are mostly straight up and down. No matter your height, you have narrow hips and small bust. Accentuate the bust you do have with halter tops that tie in the front and build in some oomph to your rear with colorful prints.
· Add some femininity with ruffles and bows to give the illusion of a curvier shape
· Whatever you do, avoid horizontal lines which can make you look even more “boxy”

Basic tips for all body types:
· Wear darker colors if you wish to reduce a specific area
· Prints and patterns in darker colors are more slimming
· Shiny fabrics can add pounds to a frame, so selecting a matte fabric with sparkly details would be best

With so many different styles out there, you are sure to find your perfect fit! Make this spring break one you will remember and be sure to pass on these tips to all your friends soaking up the sun with you. You never know when someone will snap a shot and what’s better than looking great in every angle?
