Looking Fierce on Spring Break Doesn’t Have to Cost a Fortune
Spring Break is just around the corner and the only thing on everyone’s mind. While trying to get through a few more workouts at the gym for that coveted Spring Break body, many are also scrambling to pick out outfits for a beach trip where they can show off their newly acquired tan on a warm escape.
While you may want a whole new wardrobe for your big trip, a local group that teaches women creative ways to be fashionable and save money, Live Financially says that you don’t have to break the bank to get those last minute outfits. These little tips should help you pick out your Spring Break wardrobe while leaving a little extra cash for spending money or saving for your next trip!
– $$ — Even if you dread buying the swimsuit, it is an essential for a beach vacation. Instead of buying multiple new swimsuits, consider the art of mix and matching. Have a swimsuit in a solid? Consider buying a top or bottom in a fun pattern that coordinates for a whole new look. A black bikini is a staple and will match almost any printed piece.
– $$ — Do you have any cute, casual sundresses that shrunk a bit or you no longer wear? If a dress may be too short to wear alone, it could make a perfect cover-up. Another idea for budget friendly cover-ups is to check out a thrift store and get a white, oversized men’s button down. Roll up the sleeves a few times for a chic look on the beach.
– $$ — When shopping for Spring clothes, check out stores with budget-friendly prices, like Cheeky Peach. Everything in Cheeky Peach is priced under $100 so that you can look cute without overspending.
– $$ — Beware of impulse buying just because you think you ‘need’ new clothes for Spring Break. Make sure the clothes you buy are ones you will still want to wear the rest of the season.
– $$ — Consider trading clothes with your friends before Spring Break, just for that week. While raiding each other’s closets is common for most students, your friends’ won’t have their whole closets available on Spring Break. Find a friend your size and you can each pick a few (new to you) outfits to bring on the trip.
Remember, Spring Break is only a week. While an indefinite vacation would be nice, remember that you will only need outfits for seven days (or less). Plan out what you will need and stick to it. There’s no need to over pack and overspend for a weeklong trip.
Live Financially is a community-based grassroots movement to inspire Athenians to take charge of their personal finances. One of the goals of Live Financially is to show students and local residents that they can still shop and enjoy little indulgences, but they can do so without breaking the bank.
Live Financially Fabulous: Pampered Peaches was held at Cheeky Peach boutique downtown where ladies were treated to free cupcakes, coffee and makeovers and received huge Spring discounts on their pre-VDay outfits. Guests were also treated to financial tips on how to save money and still be fabulous, in the Classic City.
